Why hand hygiene still matters in every classroom

Written bySwathi Thakur ["Clinical Nutrition Therapy", "Weight Management & Body Composition", "Maternal & Women's Health Nutrition", "Diabetes & Lifestyle Disease Management", "Personalized Diet Planning"]

Hand hygiene is still one of the simplest ways to keep a classroom healthier. Soap and water for about twenty seconds — long enough to hum a short tune — removes germs from the places kids touch most: desks, shared stationery, and door handles.

Schools that place wash basins near the tiffin line and after PE see fewer mid-term absences from tummy bugs. Teach front, back, between fingers, and thumbs — then dry hands well.

This is educational guidance for campus wellness programmes. It is not a diagnosis or medical prescription.
